Day 39: Out of my Comfort Zone

For some reason, today was extraordinarily uncomfortable for me.

First thing in the morning, I had my Anthro midterm. That was pretty uncomfortable, but I think it went okay. Fujie helped me out a lot by quizzing me on all those darn scientists (I can never remember Blumenbach for some reason...)

Also, flyers for one of VSA’s programs, VISION, were printed out to be passed out today. VISION is a program that allows college students to mentor high school students. It’s a good cause, for sure. The problem is, it doesn’t really matter what the cause is—passing out flyers would still be one of the most terrifying things to me. Ever.

Nevertheless, I tried to make myself useful and took a few flyers to pass out. I’m pretty sure I only succeeded three or four times, because the rest of the time, I stood at Sather Gate awkwardly with my newly-met acquaintance, Jason. I feel for the flyer people, because flyering is one of the hardest things ever. Let’s just say I got rejected more times today than I ever had in my life. </3

Then, in English class, we got our rough drafts back. The professor also printed three of the essays for the class to more or less critique. The names were still on the papers because she thought it’d be a good idea for the authors to read them. Guess who went first? =_=; But it really wasn’t that bad. I got some good feedback, and the class didn’t seem to hate my essay so yay me!

English class ends pretty late, so by the time I got back to the unit, I was starving. Almost everyone on the floor was at dinner or just returning for dinner. However, two of my floormates hadn’t, and because they invited me, I ate dinner with them. It was sort of uncomfortable, but not because I don’t like them. Actually, I like them both very much. It was weird for me because I didn’t know them well enough to know what to talk about, and partly because they are known as the pseudo-couple on the floor. That is, they would definitely be a couple if they weren’t living on the same floor.

Hopefully this means I’m maxed out of awkward situations for the week. Don’t wanna jinx it, though.

XOXO
Gabby
