Day 68: I Am a Really Weak Human Being

Today was VSA’s Halloween-themed 3rd General Meeting. I originally planned to help set-up for the meeting and go back to my room to study early for my Anthro midterm on Tuesday.

I stopped by Phu’s place to help him and Diana take pumpkins to Dwinelle Hall and discovered how weak I really am. I originally tried for four small/medium-sized pumpkins (in bags) but about 2/3s of the way there, my hands were crying and Phu had to take two of them, making his load a total of six. =_= How embarrassing.

The meeting itself was super fun and I stayed the whole time, so studying early was kind of a failure.

Day 67: I Did Something Bad Again

So I think the whole group-naptime will be a weekly thing because the three of us did it again.

Also, I did something bad. For the first time…I SKIPPED CLASS. BUT IT WAS FOR A GOOD CAUSE (At least, I like to think so.)

In English, we’re supposed to be around Chapter 10 in Into the Silence, but I was just past Chapter 6. And last week, the professor hinted at an in-class writing for the book, so I decided it was in my best interest to skip, make up the writing later, and catch up on the reading and some other work. I got through a pretty good chunk of the book AND wrote a good chunk of my English paper too. That’s a big thing, since I usually get to it the day before it’s due >_>

Around 6ish, I decided to see if Chris was free since he blew me off last time. He was, and we went to his “secret spot” which ended up being a spot right below the campanile/Sather Tower. If you stand at a certain place, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge because there aren’t any buildings obscuring the view. I remember during a tour, my CalSO mentor said they built it this way in order to prevent other buildings from being crushed if the campanile were to collapse. Not quite the view I was expecting, but it was pretty.

Chris needed to go to Staples and I wanted food, so we headed off to Shattuck to buy paper and eat. We ended up going to a place that sold sliders, and it was decent. (Way overpriced, though. But what’s new?)

Day 66: Mondays are Mondays

I got some studying done and attended the usual VSA 9PM-12AM meetings. Instead of Fall Showcase, we decided to go for something more fun…a MURDER MYSTERY DINNER. I don’t know how we’ll pull it off, but if we do it right, it’ll be pretty epic

Day 65: Dim Sum

A bunch of us bussed to get dim sum in Oakland today! Tammy, VSA’s Academics Chair, knows Chinese (she’s mixed) so she was able to order for us XD After dim sum, we ate MORE because there were a few cheap bakeries nearby. We ate pandan waffles and egg tarts. I remember not liking either of them before, but for some reason, they were tastier than I remembered.

When we got back to Berkeley around 2, I was super productive (if I wasn’t, I’d be in big trouble.) Chris was supposed to show me some place with a good view (that is apparently a secret), but he didn’t answer my text. There were two possibilities: 1. I was getting stood up or 2. Chris was sleeping cuz he sleeps more than I do sometimes.

I decided to knock on his door, and Michael—his roommate—answered. Chris was in bed, sleeping like a baby. (Obviously, because how could I possibly get stood up, right? :P) I decided it would be a good time to get more work done. And I did. Yeeaahhh!

Day 64: Nothing Interesting Here

Today I worked at Concessions from 9 to 4 then took an uber long nap. I wanted this Saturday to be productive but…I couldn’t do it. I just couldn’t. Booooo

Day 63: Lots of Random Unrelated Things

So according to Jane, I talked in my sleep last night. She said I kept rotating between “open,” “closed,” and “him.” Karissa has never heard me, but when I mentioned it to Jeff (one of the people we roomed with at Fanime) he told me that he also heard me sleep-talk in the hotel room. THAT’S THE FIRST I’VE HEARD OF THIS.

It’s strange to think about since I usually fall asleep first at sleepovers, and nobody has ever mentioned it. Now I’m all paranoid.

For the past few days, I’ve been exploring my potential spring schedule. Jane and I attended the Academic Advising CalSO to get some information, but honestly, I could’ve been doing better things with my time. We FPF-ers really come out on the short end because not only is our Telebears appointment last, there are so many introductory classes NOT offered in the spring. (Viet class will have to wait, unfortunately L) I’m generally satisfied with my choices, but I’m a bit worried since we choose our classes after everyone else.

Around 9, about a third of the floor went to the Big Game Rally. There was a lot of talking. A LOT of talking. I was more sleepy and hungry than pumped up, so Fujie and I went to Late Night and shared a 12-piece plate of buffalo wings. Mmmm buffalo wings.
